Editing
After you obtain your model, you might want to modify it. For our needs, we will want to at least add our name or initials to the model so we know whom each print belongs to.
- Tinkercad is the main site we'll use to edit our projects. You will need to sign-up with a free account. You can use your Google account ( including your school account ).
There are other software programs you can download on your home computer. You will not be able to install them on your Chromebooks.
When we're done editing our projects, we will save it to an updated .stl file for the slicer software described later.
Prepare for printing
This section is to be done after you have edited your model.
- In TinkerCAD, click the export button to export your project to the slicer
- Click the .stl option
- Save the file where you can find it again
- Open a new browser tab and go to Ultimaker by MakerBot. Make a new workspace if you haven't already. Give the workspace a name resembling your project name ( eg. Benchy Boat ).
- Upload your .stl file
