Project Sources
There are many sources to obtain printing projects or models. The following are trusted sources that we will use. Please do not use other sources unless approved by an adult. There are several reasons for this; some of which are security, content, and cost.
- Thingiverse is one of the most popular sites to share and obtain projects
- Printables is another popular sites to share and obtain projects, but watch for prices. Many are inexpensive, but some cost a lot. So, we would prefer to stick to the free models
- Thangs is another site with cool, free projects
- yeggi is another site with cool, free projects
We will download .stl and/or .zip files for our projects. The .zip file contains the stl and other files. For the zip files, we will extract the files and use the stl found within. These files contain the computer instructions for the editor software described later.
Advanced Editing
As we get more advanced with designing our models, we will use standard image files ( JPG, PNG, webp, etc ) and convert them to 3D printable ( .stl ) files that can be added to our models. To do this, we will use the following site(s) to conver our images.
