Editing

After you obtain your model, you might want to modify it. For our needs, we will want to at least add our name or initials to the model so we know whom each print belongs to.

	* is the main site we'll use to edit our projects. You will need to sign-up with a free account. You can use your Google account ( including your school account ).

3D Printers

There are many different types of 3D printers. The most common type you are probably familiar with are those that print plastic. This is the type that we're going to discuss here.

The one we have here is the MakerBot Replicator+. This is what we will be using to print.

Printing

In our case, we must use USB flash drives to print our projects. We have designated flash drives that belong to the library. Please save your print ready projects ( .makerbot files ) to the flash drive. Other files will be deleted.

When you submit your projects to be printed, they will be reviewed before printing. We have a limited amount of filament to be shared by everyone. We would like to avoid mistakes that cause our prints to fail. Each failed print …

Slicer

For the slicer, we will will use .

After you finish select and edit your projects, you will need to prepare it for printing. This process is called slicing. Imagine a pile of Lego bricks sitting in a pile on a table. You didn't just smash all of the bricks together and magically become your masterpiece. Well, maybe you're the special one that can do that, but I can't. ;) For the rest of us, we build our project 1 brick at a time.
